The integration of the old and the new is a hallmark of Mercer Hoteles, one of the leading Spanish chains specialising in the luxury sector. Thus the Mercer Sevilla 5*GL hotel is in the former Casa Palacio Castelar, an elegant middle-class mansion dating from 1880.
Carefully restored by renowned firm Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos, in charge of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam among other projects, the hotel preserves original architectural features such as the classical front wall, the typical Andalusian central courtyard and the spectacular marble staircase.
Around the central courtyard, which is covered by a glass dome that floods the space with natural light, are the arches and high ceilings of the former mansion’s main floor as well as its original majestic staircase. Exquisitely designed interior decoration in the purest Mercer style embraces the exclusive collection of expressionist paintings by Agustí Puig.
Opened in 2016, our 5*GL boutique hotel has exclusive dreamlike rooms and suites designed to satisfy the search for uniqueness and a truly special experience. It is in El Arenal, in the heart of Seville’s city centre, a neighbourhood of history, opera, bullfighting and art.
